NAAC Accreditation Consulting: Navigate the New Framework
February 2025 transformed NAAC with Binary Accreditation and MBGL grading. DVV compliance now determines 70% of your score.
DVV Compliance Determines 70% of Your NAAC Score
Following the February 2025 CBI scandal and framework overhaul, data integrity is no longer optional—it's existential.
February 2025: Two New Accreditation Pathways
NAAC introduced two transformative frameworks giving institutions flexibility based on maturity and aspirations.
Binary (Basic) Accreditation
Simplified yes/no accreditation status
- Accredited (CGPA ≥2.00) - Valid 2 years
- Provisionally Accredited (1.50-1.99) - Valid 1 year
- Not Accredited (CGPA <1.50)
- No DVV process required
- No peer team visits
MBGL (Maturity-Based Graded Levels)
Replaces traditional A++/A+ grading
- Level 5: Global Excellence
- Level 4: National Excellence
- Level 3: Regional Excellence
- Level 2: Developing Institution
- 50-60% new metrics expected
CBI Investigation Impact
900+ assessors fired for unethical practices. Results withheld for affected institutions. Expect heightened scrutiny in all future assessments.
DVV: The Make-or-Break Factor
Data Validation and Verification accounts for 70% of total score. Meticulous documentation is non-negotiable.
5 MB File Limit
Max file size on NAAC portal. Host excess on institutional website (NOT Google Drive).
7-15 Day Response
Clarification response timeline. Failure = disqualification.
15% Deviation = Blacklist
Data deviation exceeding 15% results in 1-year blacklisting.
Common DVV Rejection Reasons
Data mismatch between SSR and documents • Incorrect file naming • Non-functional links • Using Google Drive • Non-NAAC formats • Missing documents • Unreadable scans
Current NAAC Grading System
The existing scale remains until MBGL implementation in April/May 2025.
| Grade | CGPA Range | Status |
|---|---|---|
| A++ | 3.76 - 4.00 | Excellent (3× = 7-year validity) |
| A+ | 3.51 - 3.75 | Very Good |
| A | 3.01 - 3.50 | Very Good |
| B++ | 2.76 - 3.00 | Good |
| B+ | 2.51 - 2.75 | Good |
| B | 2.01 - 2.50 | Satisfactory |
| C | 1.51 - 2.00 | Satisfactory |
| D | ≤1.50 | Not Accredited |
CGPA Calculation
System Generated Scores (SGS): 70% • Qualitative Assessment: 30% • SSS: 60 marks. Pre-qualifier threshold: 25% in QnM (163 marks minimum).
