Nothing below is a published reading. RAYSolute has not yet computed an Index value from real data. This is the framework the first release is being built to measure, described here so the methodology can be reviewed before a single number is ever published.
Capacity and seat-formation
Net new K-12 seats entering the market each period, tracked against openings, expansions and closures, so a reader can see whether the market is growing, plateauing or contracting in seat terms.
Price and affordability band mix
The mix of new capacity across affordability bands, from value-priced to ultra-premium, so a reader can see whether growth is concentrating at the top of the fee ladder or broadening lower down it.
Format mix
The mix of new capacity by board type, schooling stage and geography tier, so a reader can see which formats and which city tiers are driving growth in a given period.
Concentration
How much new capacity in a given period sits with a small set of cities or multi-school chains, versus how dispersed it is across independent, single-site operators.
Methodology transparency commitments
An index earns the right to be quoted as fact only if its construction can be checked. These are the transparency commitments RAYSolute is building the Index against, before any reading is ever published.
What RAYSolute commits to
- A public methodology handbook before the first print: every input, weight and calculation rule will be set out in full and published before the Index issues its first reading, so anyone using it can audit exactly how a number was produced.
- Weights and rules frozen and versioned: once set at launch, the methodology changes only at a scheduled annual review, never adjusted quarter to quarter to fit a preferred narrative.
- Fixed quarterly publication cadence, once launched: the Index will publish on a regular quarterly schedule, not on an ad hoc or convenient one.
- No individual institution scored or ranked: the Index reports at the aggregate market level only. No school receives an Index score, rank or named callout of its own.
- A conflict wall on business development: RAYSolute's advisory and business-development teams have no channel to offer any institution, sponsor or partner an improved position in the Index. The Index sits behind the same conflict wall RAYSolute applies to its other research products.
Explicit non-goals
As much as what the Index is built to do, its scope is defined by what it deliberately does not attempt.
The Index does not attempt to be
- A learning-outcomes claim: the Index does not measure exam results, academic quality or student outcomes of any kind, for any school or system.
- A ranking of named schools: no institution is scored, rated or listed by name inside the Index.
- A substitute for official education statistics or third-party rankings: the Index is designed to sit alongside existing government and third-party publications in this space as a complementary, market-structure view, not to replace or compete with any of them.
How the Index is being designed to resist gaming
An index that can be quietly redefined to produce a preferred number is not a credible index. These commitments are being built into the methodology handbook itself, not added afterward.
Anti-gaming safeguards
- Unit definitions fixed before publication: what counts as a seat, an opening, an expansion and a closure will be defined in the methodology handbook before the first print, not adjusted afterward to fit the data.
- Coverage geography fixed per period: any expansion of the cities or states covered by the Index will be disclosed as a dated methodology change, never silently blended into a reported period-over-period change.
- A documented verification protocol: inputs will be checked against a defined verification protocol rather than accepted purely on an institution's or vendor's self-report.
Where the Index stands today
The RAYSolute India K-12 Capacity Index is in development. The methodology handbook has not yet been finalised or published, no reading has been computed, and no launch date has been set. This page will be updated, and early-access registrants notified directly, once the methodology handbook and a first publication date are confirmed.

Is the RAYSolute India K-12 Capacity Index a ranking of schools?
No. The Index is a system-level measure of change in India's K-12 institutional education market: how much new capacity is being added, where, at what price band, and how concentrated that capacity is. It does not score, rate or rank individual schools, and no school will ever receive an Index score of its own. If you are looking for a school-level comparison, this is not the right resource.
When will the Index launch?
The Index is currently in development. RAYSolute has not yet finalised the methodology, computed a published reading, or set a launch date, and this page will not claim otherwise. Early-access registrants will be notified first once a methodology handbook and a first publication date are confirmed.
How is this different from other education statistics or rankings that already exist?
Most published education statistics and rankings work at the level of a single institution: an accreditation status, a board result, a fee disclosure. The Index is designed to work one level up, tracking system-wide shifts in capacity, price positioning, format mix and geographic concentration across the market as a whole. It is intended to sit alongside official education statistics and third-party rankings as a complementary, market-structure view, not to replace or compete with any of them.
Will individual schools be named or scored in the Index?
No. The Index is built and will be published at the aggregate, system level only. No individual institution receives a score, a rank or a named callout in any Index publication.
